About Longfield

A village and civil parish in the Dartford Borough of Kent. This town has a population of 4,919 people and is recorded in the Domesday Book and Anglo-Saxon charters, where it is referred to as Langanfelda.

In the 1940’s, the town planner proposed that Longfield should form part of the Greater London Plan. This did not realize, however, as other satellite areas around London were selected instead.

Longfield also includes Longfield Hill, the neighborhood and the southern end. Together with New Barn, it forms a civil parish. The parish church was constructed in 1343 and is dedicated to St Mary Magdalene. This church is also a Grade II listed building. and the Parish Council is located in Fawkham Road on the western side of the village.

There are multiple amenities in the village, including a shopping area, baker, butcher, supermarkets, a post office, chemist, and hairdressers. There are also estate agents and a pet supply store. There is also a country market on Fridays.

In Longfield, there is an abundance of places to eat and drink, including a pub called the Railway Tavern and various restaurants. Other pubs in the vicinity of Longfield include the Wheatsheaf, a 15th-century pub, and the Green Man on Longfield Hill.

Although Longfield is smaller than New Barn, it has more in terms of attractions and amenities. It is located right next to Hartley, which has an independent school as well as a pre-school.
