How to Get A Great Gas boiler installation in Bromley

Choosing a good boiler installer isn't easy, but it's worth researching, because a badly fitted boiler can be dangerous, break down more often, and be expensive to repair. In this guide, we'll show you where to find the best boiler installers in Bromley, then narrow down until you find a great one.

7 Steps To Finding A Gas Safe Registered Installations Specialist In Bromley

  • Search on reputable websites, such as Google, Kent Trading Standards, and Gas Safe Register to find some local installers in and around Bromley. From this list, you can Google their names to see what kind of reviews they have.
  • When you have a list of companies who look good, contact them to test how they respond. If you call and get a voicemail - or you fill out a form and don't hear back, this may indicate the company is difficult to communicate with. Is this what you want if you have boiler trouble in future? Create a shortlist of companies who actually answer their phones or get back to you quickly when you compete a contact form on their website.
  • From this shortlist, you can ask these companies to visit your property to give you a quote. (Don't rely on online quotes. They're good to get a rough price, but you really need a heating engineer to view your home for an accurate price.)
  • When the engineer arrives, do they spend time to find out what you need? Do they carry out technical checks (like water flow rate tests) to ensure your new boiler will work properly? Do they give you a price on the spot - or do they produce a written quote with multiple options to suit you budget?
  • When you receive your quotes, do they detail all the work you agreed during the visit? Does the quote confirm that your new boiler installation will meet gas and building regulations? Does the quote clearly state all your guarantees?
  • From here you can pick the company who gives you the best service, the most comprehensive quotes, and is the best value for money.
  • If you would like to put us to the test, please book your quote in here, or call 01322 788418. We're open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Popular Boiler Replacement Brands In Bromley

These are our most popular boiler brands in the BR postcode areas:

Viessmann Boilers

Viessmann Boiler

Viessmann are the best boiler manufacturer you've never heard of. But don't let that put you off. They're huge in Europe and, like Vaillant, they're German and have been around for over 100 years. We love Viessmann at Thames Boilers because their build quality is as good as (if not better) than Vaillant and Worcester Bosch, but their prices are a little lower. This makes them great value for your installation - and Which? agree, giving Viessmann several Best Buy awards in recent years.

Vaillant Boilers

Vaillant Boiler

Vaillant are one of the best know boiler brands in the UK and popular in Bromley. They're a German company, based in Remscheid since 1874. They were arguably the first company to make a "combi" boiler back in the early 1960's. So they're very well established. Today, they're still considered one of the best boiler manufacturer's around, winning Which? Best Buy awards on a regular basis.

Worcester Bosch Boilers

Worcester Bosch Boiler

Worcester Bosch are probably the best known boiler brand in the UK, with a lot of installations in Bromley. Although now owned by the German giant, Bosch, Worcester is still very much a British company. Its boilers are still made in Warndon in Worcester. Like Vaillant and Viessmann, Worcester boilers have won several Which? Best Buy awards. If you want a high quality boiler, but still want to "buy British", then Worcester Bosch is an excellent choice. Although they are among the most expensive boilers we install.

Baxi / Main Boilers

Baxi Boiler

Baxi is another great British boiler brand, who can trace their roots back to Richard Baxendale, an iron founder, who began the Baxendale Company in 1866, based in Preston in Lancashire - and long way from Bromley! Today, Baxi also makes boilers under the Main and Potterton brands. We recommend Baxi boilers as the least disruptive replacement installation to some heat-only boilers - and their Main brand for people who want to keep costs down.

Free Magnetic Filter & Installation (Value: £185)

Every heating system should have a magnetic filter like this. It stops sludge from your radiators creeping into your boiler.

Sludge causes most boiler breakdowns and boiler manufacturers know this. So if they find sludge in your boiler on a call out, they'll invalidate your warranty on the spot. Not good.

To stop this, you'll get a Magnaclean Pro filter for free with your boiler installation. It'll prevent sludge from breaking your boiler, keep your warranty valid, and will save you about £30 extra a year on gas.* All for free.

What Will Replace Boilers In 2025?

There's a lot of misleading information in the media that boilers will be "banned" from 2025. Without context, this can be worrying - especially when you're thinking about upgrading your boiler soon. So here's some information to help you understand the upcoming boiler "ban".

The Truth About The 2025 Boiler "Ban"

  • From 2025, gas boilers won't be installed in new build properties. New homes will use alternatives, such as heat pumps, to produce heating and hot water. This will not affect existing properties.
  • Because heat pumps are not practical or economical to install in most existing homes, the government are finding other ways to reduce carbon emissions. The most promising is to gradually replace the current gas in our pipes (methane) with hydrogen gas.
  • So far trials have shown a 20% hydrogen mix works perfectly safely without the need to modify existing boilers or other gas appliances. Many boilers are already being sold as "hydrogen ready" for if the 20% blend is rolled out nationally.
  • The aim is to gradually replace the whole gas network with 100% hydrogen. However, this will take a long time - perhaps 10 to 20 years. Because of how modern boilers work, converting them to hydrogen will be a relatively cheap and easy job to do.

Should You Still Upgrade Your Boiler?

Yes! You will be able to continue to use your new boiler for as long as you like. The only difference may be the gas it runs on. And converting from methane to hydrogen should be a simple, low cost job.
